Frequently asked questions.

How difficult is the hike likely to be?

We take every effort to select a trail and experience that best matches the information you provide when you fill out the Participant form (see Join Us For A Hike). For information on selecting a level of difficulty, click HERE.

What if I don’t have a car?

We will try to find a trail either within easy walking distance of where you are staying, if available, or on one of the free bus routes (Breck Freeride; Summit Stage) you can hopefully access from where you are staying. If your party is two or less, we can offer you a ride to and from the trailhead.

How do I find the trailhead?

Most of the trails we take can be found on the app AllTrails. After opening the app, you can search for the trail, using the exact name and location (town) we provide. Once that trail is found, click on directions to open a map from your device. You can also download the trail map to your device. In any event, we will send you a link to that specific trail from either AllTrails or CoTrex, and you can acquire directions from the link. It is important that we exchange phone numbers so we can communicate if problems arise on the day of the hike. Keep in mind that many trails may take us out of cellular range, so it is best to download the map(s) prior to departure.

What do I need to bring?

Hiking on a trail in the mountains is often different from most other outdoor outings. Water, good footwear, appropriate clothing, rain gear, etc. can make the difference between total enjoyment and being miserable when deep onto a trail. It is for this reason that we hope you will review our List of Things to Bring .

Will there be a bathroom?

Only occasionally are there bathrooms at the trailhead. We provide ample breaks on the hike to allow for your own personal visit with nature. Guys uphill, girls downhill.

Can I bring a dog?

While we love dogs, and they bring joy to our lives, they do diminish the nature experience, especially with regards to wildlife aversion, so please no dogs.
